The game gets exceedingly dull and mechanical if you just optimize everything. That's not to say I don't recommend doing this kind of thing, because I do. For instance, bringing Profane Scroll and Atonement Beads (or Heretical Passage against certain enemies) for a melee Vestal. Even the usual "always-bring" ones change if you're playing a character in an unusual, which is usually to say sub-optimal way. The most frustrating of these set bonuses are the ones where the set bonus is actually pretty solid, but the second trinket you have to waste a slot on is such crap that you'd still be better off bringing something else.Īlmost all trinkets are situational, to some degree. trinket are outshined by Battle Ballad spam anyway. But both trinkets are good on their own and any advantage from a better ACC/DMG/CRIT/etc. And even there, I'm usually bringing Hero's Ring and Tentacle Idol for the other heroes anyway, so it's kind of redundant. But HWM has so many other outstanding trinkets (like the Crystal one) that I'll rarely use it outside there. I agree that HWM's is about the only set I'll equip, especially in Farmstead where virtue farming is a virtue. I'm not a huge fan of HP boosts in general, because while they're best on heroes who are already built like a brick ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, they're already built like a brick ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and don't really need it. Some of the set bonuses are excellent +20% HP on a Crusader that already is gonna have good base HP? on top of stress resist, +stress healing and +healing? Highwayman's set bonus caps your virtue chance without it coming at the cost of a trinket that does nothing else in the process. The pattern I noticed on many is that they'll get one trinket that's decent on its own and the other that is good to stack with an existing class trinket.
